The floor vibrated softly as she approached the doorway and she could hear him playing his guitar again. Today was different, though; she could also hear him singing. It wasn’t often she was able to hear him sing.

Adeline moved into her apartment a few months ago in the mixed district: tiny and Giant beings a like. Her apartment building allowed any sized being to rent and she was fortunate enough to find an apartment her size for a fair price. The college was close and she wasn’t too far from a nearby market. The apartment was accommodated to allow any size tenant to live and walk freely: giant furniture wasn’t a problem with the stairways that lead from the ground up. Truthfully, this apartment was meant for more than one person, but should the need to entertain any guests she wouldn’t have to adjust far too much.

Adeline found herself drawn to his door and looked up at the door handle above her head. Her neighbor wasn’t too much bigger than she was: she stood at roughly 6’ and he stood around..35’ she guessed? That wasn’t the tallest giant she’s ever met, but still…that’s almost 5 times her size. She hasn’t barely uttered a hello to him before…but his voice was deep and she could still recall the way his voice shook her very soul. Adeline shook her head; there was no way he’d be interested in a tiny fat thing like her. Rubbing the goosebumps arising on her arms, Adeline made her way to the smaller portion of her door and slipped inside. The walls and floors were reinforced so the shakes and movement of others wouldn’t affect her portion of the apartment; she was sad when she couldn’t hear his singing or feel the strum of his guitar anymore.

Her mind wandered back to the day she had first met him: he was kind enough to help carry her boxes upstairs. What would have been five or six trips for her was barely an armful for him! He offered her a charming smile, his snake bites glistening in the hallway light above. Lowering himself down onto one knee, he offered his finger to shake and his name: Garret. His hands smelled like a campfire and his finger was calloused (which she learned later he played the guitar).

The doorbell rang out and Adeline had to fight not to drop the soda she was putting away. Who could be knocking on her door? She made her way quickly down the steps and looked through the peephole…but she couldn’t see anything. Furrowing her eyebrows she slid the door open and stepped out. A pair of giant sneakers stood on either side of her vision and she stepped back, fighting to hold in her gasp. Her eyes traveled up the dark jean-clad legs, past the black and red sweater, and came to rest on the head blocking out the hallway light above.

“Hey, Adeline.” His familiar voice rumbled above and he got down on one knee in a quick fluid motion. It was a bit unnerving how something so big could move so fast and gracefully. His ears had circles carved out and stretched; when had he gotten his ears gagged? A cheerful smile tug at his lips as she smiled back at him, her heart racing inside her chest.

“H-hey Garret!” she chirped nervously.

“How have you been?”

“Oh you know...college and work. A-and you?” His teal eyes watched her curiously and he laughed- the sound rumbled her chest and made her heart skip a beat.

“Ahhh the life of a college kid. Working on music again and working; I’m not being too loud again, am I? I didn’t think you’d be home this early.”

“Of course not! My professor canceled so I just came home early. I don’t mind when you play. I love when I get to hear you-“she stopped herself, face turning crimson red in embarrassment. Garret grinned down at her and she could feel her heart skip. He roughly ran his hand through the back of his spiked black hair.

“Well I’m glad….you should come to one of our shows, sometime. I think you’d like it.” Adeline stared up at him wide eyed. She had never known he was in a band. She thought he just played for fun. “Or maybe you could come over and hang out if you’re no into the kind of scene?” he continued, his cheek turning a shade of red. Was he blushing? Wait…did he just ask her out?

“I-I’d like that, Garret.” She smiled up at, her arms cradling her chest nervously. She bit her lip nervously and glanced down at his feet, shuffling slightly. Garret shifting and reaching into his back pocket caught her attention as he held a tiny piece of paper between his thumb and finger.

“Somehow….your mail ended it up in mine.” His fingers were huge, easily the tip of his thumb could hold both her hands. The familiar smell of campfire had returned and she took a breath, enjoying the returning memories. Adeline wished the moment would never end. She reached out, her hand brushing against his rough skin as she grabbed the paper. Garret’s finger twitched from her touch and she looked up, her eyes entranced by the piercings on his lips. They were called snake-bites, she recalled. Regrettably, she pulled her hands back and thanked him.

“Alright well, I will let you get back inside.” Garret stood up to his full height and once again she couldn’t tear her eyes off of him.

“A-alright.” She said, barely above a whisper. Within three steps he was back at his door and her heart ached to see him go. With a deep breath, she clutched the mail to her chest and called out to him. He paused, his hand on the doorknob as he turned to look at her with those eyes.

“What’s up, Adeline?”

“A…Are you doing anything tonight?” her face couldn’t have been any redder. Time seemed to freeze and she couldn’t feel anything. WHAT had she done? She barely knows him. He probably thinks she is a tiny nuisance, just a shadow in the hallway when she walks pass. She wasn’t skinny. She was a thick plus size girl and didn’t paint her face up…she wasn’t a giant…there was no way this could work. “N-nevermind. Sorry! I-I’ll see you later, Garret.” She laughed nervously and opened her door back up.

Garret walked back over to her, causing her to pause and look up at him.

“Can I pick you up?” he asked in a hush voice, kneeling. Thoughts raced through her head: I’m too heavy, it’ll be awkward, what is he gunna do? She nodded nervously biting at her lower lip. With an unthinkable gentleness he cupped a hand behind her, scooping her up, and cradling her safely with the other. His hand was so warm and tough beneath her; the campfire smell was all around her. The world gently fell away until garret was standing, holding her up to his face. His eyes were like two giant mirrors as he studied her finally up close. Adeline closed her eyes, tears threatening to fall as she shook. Now he could see how imperfect she was up close…he probably thought she was a tiny ball of fat.

“You’re beautiful, Adeline.” His breath, smelling a strange mixture of mint and fruit, gently washed over her and she looked up at him, a tear cascading down her cheek. He smiled at her and she sniffed gently, whipping her eye. “A-are you alright? Did I scare you?” his eyes and eyebrows shifted nervously and she shook her head. He was a giant…did she really think he wouldn’t be able to pick her up with ease?

“Y-you didn’t scare me, Garret. You made me happy.” She hiccupped and rubbed at her eye some more. Garrets expression softened and he lowered her down, hugging her to his chest gently. Adeline could feel her heart thumping near her and she closed her eyes. This had to be a dream.

“How does a pizza and a movie sound?” he grinned down at her, his voice thundering in his chest and she glanced up at him from being buried in his sweater. She couldn’t help but smile.

“T-that sounds amazing.”

“Any kind of pizza you like?” He cradled her, heading towards his apartment.

“Anything but anchovies and olives.” She stuck her tongue out in disgust, blushing as his chest rumbled beneath her as he chuckled. He stuck is tongue out, wiggling the piercing on his tongue playfully in agreement.

“Well at least we can agree on that. Horror movie and meat lovers pizza?” he cheered, grinning as he held his door open with his foot.

“Sounds perfect.”
I was having a mixture of emotions yesterday and my depression set in.
This story came into my head this morning, now that the darkness has gone away for now.
May not be the best grammar and story, but this was just a blurb I decided to write

I've struggled with my weight for years, and I still do (Currently passed the 100lb mark though!)
Though its hard some days, I've learned to love my fluff <3
This body is me and as it may change, my personality, mind, and soul are also a part of me.
I'm not defined by a number on a scale
